What Is Career Coaching?

Career Coaching is an ongoing relationship which focuses on the client taking action toward the realization of their career goals. The coaching process helps clients both define and achieve career goals faster and with more ease than would be possible otherwise.

Career coaches specialize in assisting clients to discover and attain the career or income position that is ideally suited to them. Career coaches work on the premise that each person has within them, at least one true avocation that, once uncovered and achieved, will allow them to "Go to Play" every day, because they are doing what they love and are good at. Career coaches start with discovering what motivates and drives their clients, and then they help their clients develop ideal positions that fit their values, talents, goals, wishes, and interests. They also assist their clients to create practical and attainable plans to create the job and life they really want.

II. Group Career Coaching

Group coaching is a way of receiving coaching, but with the added benefit of a group for support and ideas. If you like to be part of a group, and thrive in this environment, then group coaching would be for you.

The following program will be given in person in a group setting over an 8 week period.

Eight-Steps For Finding Your Ultimate Profession

Would you like to realize your dream career? Find inner clarity and direction? Learn how to create an action plan for your career that gets results and helps you obtain your ultimate profession.

I will be tapping into Deborah Brown-Volkman’s best-selling book, “Coach Yourself To A New Career: A Guide For Discovering Your Ultimate Profession.” The book is the result of Deborah’s personal journey to find a career with a purpose and it includes inspiring stories of others who have done the same. Deborah is a fellow coach, and I admire her work greatly.

This is what the 8 week career series will cover:

Week One: Learning To Dream Again. You will discover what happened to your dreams and why finding them is key to obtaining a career you love. You will walk away with the dream you lost.

Week Two: Evaluating Your Career Path. You will evaluate where you have been and why you are not where you want to be now. You will learn how making peace with your past is key to your career success in the future. You will walk away with self-acceptance.

Week Three: Gaining Inner Clarity. You will find out what makes you truly happy in a career. You will walk away with a criteria and checklist you can follow to make wiser career choices in the future.

Week Four: Challenging Your Beliefs. You will learn how to challenge and overcome negative thoughts. You will walk away with a positive frame of mind and motivation to tackle your career obstacles.

Week Five: How Fear Affects Your Career. You will learn how to overcome fear, worry, and procrastination. You will walk away with strength and courage.

Week Six: Moving Forward. You will learn how planning is key to obtaining your career goals. You will walk away with a plan that is simple and easy to implement.

Week Seven: Implementing Your Plan. You will learn how to implement your plan even with a busy schedule and a long to -do list. You will walk away with direction and focus.

Week Eight: The Finish Line. You will learn how to visualize your success. You will walk away with your goal already reached in your mind.

When you take the time to focus on your career, and you do the work with people who want to overcome the same struggles as you, the answers you are seeking come. This is one of the best gifts you can give to your career.

III. Intensive Weekend Retreats

Imagine having a comprehensive career plan at the end of one weekend?

Sometimes you have to “retreat” in order to move forward. Two nights and three days in an intensive environment can launch your career forward in a big way. In addition, you will get three months of follow up and implementation coaching to make sure you stay on track and implement your plan.

Life is busy, and there’s not enough time during the week to fit in the meaningful work needed to create career goals. This is why a weekend intensive retreat is important for career progression.

Combine relaxing and rejuvenating activities (hiking, biking, skiing, walking, message, spa, etc) designed around your interests and preferences that will jumpstart your new life and refresh you so you have the energy and motivation to create the career you’ll truly love your clove.  But, don’t expect hand holding either. You will also be receiving strong and direct intensive coaching.

During the weekend, you will get clarity and a vision for your future. You also will be creating a plan for getting there.  The goal of the weekend is to create your personal turnaround plan.

Two days will be spent working on what your goals are. Then, there would be bi-monthly coaching calls, after the weekend program, to keep you on track.  In addition, you will have unlimited email/phone “progress check in’s” for guidance and support. This work will create a firm foundation for long-term change that will give you the results you are seeking in your career.
